Atunile
Organics
Code of Ethics &
Sourcing Charter
Scope: Applicable to all Atunile Organics export operations and
supply
chain partners.
01
Our Core Commitment
Atunile Organics is dedicated to bridging the gap between the wild-grown Shea parklands of Northern
Uganda
and the global luxury skincare market. We operate on the principle that Premium
Quality
must
be matched by Premium Ethics.
02
Fair Trade & Economic Empowerment
We go beyond standard market rates to ensure the sustainability of our communities.
- The Living Wage Principle: We commit to paying a price premium above the standard
local
market rate to our women-led harvesting cooperatives.
- Direct Sourcing: We prioritise short supply chains to ensure that the maximum
value
stays
in the hands of the primary producers in Lira, Otuke, and surrounding districts.
- Financial Inclusion: Where possible, we facilitate early payments or
"harvest-start"
financing to help our partners manage seasonal cash flow.
03
Labour Standards & Human Rights
- Zero Tolerance for Child Labour: We strictly prohibit the use of child labour in
any
part
of our collection or processing operations.
- Safe Working Conditions: We work with our processing partners (mills) to ensure
that
all
workers operate in safe, ventilated environments with appropriate protective gear.
- Gender Equity: As Shea is "Women's Gold," we ensure that leadership roles in our
supply
chain cooperatives are held by women.
04
Environmental Stewardship
- Conservation of the Shea Belt: We educate our harvesters on non-invasive
collection
techniques that protect the health of the Vitellaria Nilotica trees for future generations.
- Zero-Chemical Refining: Our export-grade butter is physically refined using
natural
clay
and heat, ensuring no harmful solvents enter the environment or the final product.
- Biodiversity Protection: We oppose the cutting of shea trees for charcoal and
actively
support parkland preservation efforts.
05
Transparency & Traceability
- The Receipt of Origin: We maintain records of every batch, traceable to the
specific
cooperative and harvest season.
- Open Communication: We provide our international partners with unedited photos,
videos,
and impact reports from the field, ensuring they can verify our claims with their own eyes.
- Third-Party Verification: We actively pursue third-party organic and fair-trade
certifications to independently validate our practices.
